Gary Pritchett
Gary Pritchett’s passion for drag racing was built from the ground up. Raised in a racing family, Gary spent the first 18 years of his life at race tracks across the country alongside legendary Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Bunny Burkett, who was also his godmother. Growing up with the Burkett family operation, he learned the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance while developing a lifelong love for the sport.
At 18 years old, Gary moved to Indiana to pursue a career in professional drag racing. Over the next 17 years, he worked his way through virtually every position on a race team, gaining experience in all aspects of building, maintaining, and competing with championship-caliber race cars. During that time, he became one of the sport’s most respected clutch specialists, helping teams find consistency and performance at the highest levels of competition. He spent 12 of those years with the Capco Top Fuel team, helping capture four world championships and celebrating victories at some of the biggest races in the sport. The friendships, experiences, and success from that chapter of his career are something he will always cherish.
In 2023, Gary stepped away from full-time crew member duties and returned to the East Coast to build a life with his wife, Jessica. Together, they spend much of their time at race tracks across the country, competing in a wide variety of classes including Super Street, Super Comp, Top Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster, and Top Fuel. Their shared passion for racing keeps them busy nearly every weekend and deeply connected to the sport that has been a part of Gary’s life since childhood.
When the opportunity came to drive for Foley Lewis Racing, it felt like the perfect next chapter. Bringing together a lifetime of racing experience, championship-winning knowledge, and a passion for competition, Gary has quickly found success behind the wheel and is excited about what the future holds.
From growing up with the Bunny Burkett Funny Car team, to helping win championships as a crew member, to now pursuing his own driving career, Gary’s journey has come full circle. He is grateful for the people who helped shape his path and looks forward to many more years of racing with Foley Lewis Racing.
